Domestic Painting

Domestic Painting

Our domestic painting has seen us paint hundreds of houses down through the years. We offer a no fuss, clean and fast service.
One of our reasons for success is our attention to detail. We never leave a mess behind. We take care of everything, from masking off edges, smoothing walls, painting and cleaning up.
Attention to detail. All surfaces are prepared before painting. We believe that the walls should be perfect before we start to ensure the best possible finish.

Furniture Painting

At Laheen Painting, we paint furniture, including kitchen units. Most surfaces can be painted on, however with some laminates; paint will simply not adhere correctly. We will know by looking what can and cannot be painted on. We use the newest paints and technology to freshen up or completely change the look of your furniture.

Deciding on a colour for your room;

  • Do look at magazines, brochures. Watch home renovation shows. Sometimes we like things we never thought we would.
  • Consider the lighting in your room. A bedroom painted the exact same colour as a hallway can look completely different. This can be down to the amount of light in room, if light is hitting it directly etc.
  • If you are unsure about a colour, buy a sample pot of paint. Most DIY shops will have these very cheap. Paint in a few different spots if you can. This will allow you to see how the paint looks in different lights, and with different surroundings. Have a look at the sample in daylight and artificial. You may be surprised at the difference.
  • Consider your choice of paint. Some paints come with different effects, e.g. texture paint, fabric, like suede effect etc. These can add a really interesting look to your room.
  • Think about the colour you choose for your room. There is a whole science behind colours and the effect they have on your mood. See our guide below for more information on this.

Deciding what colour to paint your room

Red

Red has been known to increase energy levels, evoke passion and excitement. Red can help people become more social, more involved in group activities.

Red can raise blood pressure and heart rate. It may not be the best choice in a bedroom if you are trying to relax and get good night’s sleep!

Red
Blue

Blue

Blue has the opposite effect to red; it lowers heart rate and blood pressure. Blue calms the mind and restores peace. There are many different shades of blue; some can be quiet warm, while others are cold.

For example a pastel blue can be cold, where as a deep turquoise can be very warm and inviting. Dark blue can sometimes make people feel unhappy, so never go too dark.

Green

Green as a paint choice in a room is very refreshing and invigorating. Often people like green as it is natural and can feel almost like outdoors.

Green is reminiscent of fertility, new growing things.

Green
Yellow

Yellow

Yellow reminds people of the sun, warmth, and healing. It can make people feel happy and uplifted. We would not suggest painting an entire room yellow however, as it can be overwhelming.

Yellow has shown to make babies more prone to crying and adults more likely to lose their temper. It can be frustrating when used in a large room.

Purple

Purple is a royal colour. It is luxurious and elegant.

There are different shades, for example lighter shades can be chilly and darker shades can be quite mysterious.

Purple
Orange

Orange

Orange is energetic and makes people feel uplifted and ready to take on challenges.

It can be a great colour for gyms etc. Orange has also been known to be a healing colour.

Brown & Cream

Brown is a very natural earthy colour. It can be neutral, so works well if you have other bright or statement furniture on a room. Creams and browns are often used in rented accommodation, as they are the easiest to match up with other colours.

Brown & Cream
Black

Black

Black is really only used in smaller quantities. It can be really luxurious and add a touch of class, just make sure not to overdo it as it can really darken a room quickly and can often evoke feelings of depression.
